"The Word Of the Lord...Thanks Be To God"
These are my friends Christian Gowan and Joshua Henry. Christian and Joshua led some Jamican style worship this morning. Joshua also was the prayer leader as he led in Morning Prayer. Christian is a second year officer in training and Joshua is in second year as well but will be graduating this year and returning to Jamica to be posted with Church Army.
Every Morning at School we gather for a time of worship, prayer, confession and intercession. On Friday mornings we have a traditional Anglican Morning prayer service using The Book Of Alternative Services. This morning I was asked to be the "reader." Every morning at school we read two sections of scripture (usually two chapters), one from the Old testament and one from the New testament. The readings are assigned from a book called a "lectionary" (if you're Anglican.. this is all everyday mumbojumbo....but I'm not.. so this was all new to me). If you follow the lectionary you end up reading the whole bible in a year. What a cool idea eh? Anyways, here comes the bad news... one of my assigned readings was Genesis 14... Check out these words..."Ampraphel," "Arioch," Zeboiim," "Chedorlaomer," "Rephaim," "Ashteroth," "Kiriathaim." These are just some....it made for a very humbling experience. Another morning....another opportunity to grow.
