"I Live in a Sewer"... (sung by Eric Tremblay with a French accent)
I've been praying a bit about this summer- and I asked God what my own personal initiative was for the next three months. God has been so clear in speaking to me in saying that wherever I am and whatever I am doing He just wants me to serve. Simple right? I am being put to the test. Today I was out at camp and the sewage line got plugged and backed up and raw sewage started pumping back up through the drains in the floor, through the showers and through the toilets. So I'm standing in sewage, almost ready to vomit, the day was over a long time ago, I'm thinking about taking a nap...when I'm reminded of this personal initiative. Man the things God sometimes has to do to bring us to a place of selflessness and denying ourselves, our needs and putting other people and other situations first when it's hard and not accomodating really does stink (and I mean really stink!). Teach me Jesus.

In the end it turned out to be a lot of fun. I got splashed in the face twice by sewage when I went to wring out my mop (not a fan). My clothes permanently stink and I have a new appreciation for shop vacumns.

  Tired of Christian Radio?
Anissa sent me these links; they are 24/7 radical prophetic radio that you can listen to online. The only one that I have figured out how to use is the Night Watch and I haven't been too disappointed thus far. I can't say anything about the other radio links but I'm sure they are good. Try them out and let me know. ( I guess the wellnetwork is supposed to be really good)

  Who Am I?
One of the largest struggles most young adults go through is Who Am I and What am I supposed to be doing with my life? I spent four loooooong years preoccupied with these thoughts and essentially felt that I wasted these years. What made these years hard in discovering who I was and what direction I was supposed to be taking was the confusion that came from watching others suceeding. All of my friends went to university and I felt that in order to be "somebody" that was the direction I needed to take as well. This only brought more frustration and confusion when I found out that I was walking in something that wasn't for me out of wanting to fulfil a desire to suceed. I see a trend of young adults who just seem to be "floating" around not knowing what way to turn because there seem to be so many options out there for them- or are scared to walked into what God has called them to do because it requires a lot of them. I guess I just wanted to offer encouragement- we are called to be Daughters and Sons of our Father above everything else. When we recognize that this is our calling and our position in Christ it changes our prespective. Who I Am isn't found in the degree or diploma or certificate etc. If He calls me to be a stay at home mom or go to med school or go overseas as long as I'm doing my Daddy's business as His daughter I'll be walking out what He has called me to do. Just be a Daughter.

  College Mission Report
I found this while surfing the net- it's our college mission report from the first week of April. The first and second year classes at the college went to Fredericton and partnered with a church. This is a detailed account of what went down.

College Mission Report: Fervent pressing in and answered prayers

The Taylor College Mission Week began Monday April 3, 2006. Students met for a time of intercession each morning -- they stormed Heaven and did spiritual battle, calling down “God’s Fire” on the city of Fredericton and St. John the Evangelist Church in particular. This type of fervent ‘pressing in’ continued for the next three mornings. Each afternoon the students spent in getting ready. This included preparation for the crafts, many phone calls, music practises and dance rehearsals.

After three days of intense spiritual and practical preparation we headed off to Fredericton. Upon arrival we had another intense time of prayer ‘on site’. We had a shared meal with the St. John’s Worship Band and then that evening we shared in a time of worship. Second Year student Rachel Noll gave a stirring call to worship God in Spirit and in Truth and then we had a most awesome time. God was manifestly present in our time together. We have yet to figure out who was more blessed the people who attended this meeting our we, ourselves.

Friday we visited a Seniors’ home, York Manor. Students scattered through the whole building and ‘wheeled’ folks to a special service. Joshua Henry, who will be commissioned this July, led the worship. First Year students Erin Stevenson and Kara Doucet brought an encouraging and challenging word.

After this we gathered back at the church hall for a prayer time before our next event. We all felt a kind of weariness or heaviness but in prayer we determinedly pushed through until we found a fresh anointing from God. Just as we were experiencing this ‘joy’ , a young man, “J”, came in. He had just had an encounter with God and was looking for help and discipleship. He had knocked on 13 church doors but they were all locked until he came to us at St. John’s. Joshua Henry spent a good deal of time with him and introduced him to the local youth pastor. It was great to see God at work!

We then had a Youth Event evening of games, worship, and a message. This time was led by Second Year student Christian Gowan. With the use of PowerPoint and black lights and with the help of some local musicians, Christian made a powerful plea for people to come to Jesus and have Him kindle a fire in their hearts.

Saturday was very busy. We gathered again for prayer and then everybody got busy as we led a children’s program from 10 am to 4 pm. It was a wonderful time of games, stories, puppets, songs and prayer. Second Year student Susan Roberts and First Year student Rob Langmaid headed up this venture and everyone contributed their part.

Saturday evening we held a “Family Fun Night” people from the church brought their talents of poetry, joke and song and we mixed in some of our own. This night was Emceed by Second Year student Cayo Whyte. A troop of our female students did a powerful dance -- “Into the Light” which moved everyone. Toward the end of the evening the lights were turned off except for one candle. While the song “Light Your Candle” was played everyone in the hall had their candle lit, until the room blazed with light. It was a wonderful metaphor for what we had been praying for the Church and city. The evening ended with a time of worship as Katie Trecartin, a friend of many of our students, powerfully and sensitively led us into the ‘Throne Room’.

Sunday morning, Reed Fleming preached at both the 8 am and 10:15 services. He challenged people to make a decision to “accept Jesus as King” or renew there commitment. Several people did just that! First Year student Jessie Joyce gave an equally challenging children’s talk. She issued each child a ‘noise make’ and the children used them with a kind of Palm Sunday joy to worship their saviour.

That afternoon we returned to the College tired but content. God had answered our prayer.

  Camp
I've been thinking a lot about Camp Medley lately and I was reading through some of Karen's blogs and came across this. I almost fell of my bed laughing thinking of specific examples in the past..

Anyways read on

To all the true camp people out there: You know you are a camp person if...
-Abnormality is a compliment.
-Being at home makes you homesick.
-Dressing up only involves slightly cleaner clothes.
-Everything you have has your initials on it.
-Most of your stories start with "and then there was this one time, at camp..."
-On the job training includes "the Cup Game".
-Tater tots are its own food group.-Sandal/watch tan lines are a competition.
-Sharpies, pens and duct tape are worth more than gold.
-Water cures all ills.
-Camp has been over for 22 minutes, and you're already thinking about next summer.
-You are convinced that there is no way you can date someone who is not a camp guy/girl, because no one else really understands.
-You can burst into song about anything.
-You can make anything out of duct tape, including band-aids.
-You can make up a song about anything.
-You can shampoo, wash, and shave your legs, etc in less than 5 minutes.
-You can think of 50 ways to use a bandanna off the top of your head.
-You don't think non-camp people can understand your summer job.
-You never wonder why camp people give the best hugs.
-You have a camp set of clothes.
-You have a collection of outfits for theme weeks.
-You have about 20 mosquito bites in 1 square inch of skin.
-You have an entire volume of camp-friendly mixed CDs.
-You don't do this for the money - and you mean it.
-You know exactly how to get to camp from home by car, boat, plane or any other means of transportation.
-You know that laughter, hiccups, sneezes, itching, and yawns are contagious.
-You were disappointed to find that you can't major in "camp".
-You never refuse free food.
-You refer to your campers as YOUR kids.
-You save anything and everything campers have ever made for you.
-You value the friendship bracelet you got at the camp last summer more than any other piece of jewelry.
-Your "real-world" friends have limited you to only 5 camp stories a day.
-Your barter system relies on hugs, backrubs, and chocolate exchanges.
-Your closer with your campfriends than with your own family.
-Your friends know you're never home from June till September.
-Your primary method of diplomatic resolution is rock, paper, and scissors.
-Your tan lines are also your dirt lines.
-Your water bottle and sandals are as essential as your underwear.
-Your year only has two seasons.Summer and non-summer.
-You've given up time off to comfort a crying camper.
-You've used your frozen Nalgene as an icepack.

  Bouncin' around the St.John River

I went canoeing with Anissa last night in the "beautiful" St. John river. Actually it was really beautiful. A lady from our church had told Anissa that if you wear bounce dryer sheets the flies won't bother you. So we tried it and it worked! It was a wonderful evening for canoeing- check out how calm the water is.

The more I learn...the less I know...

"...we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us." Romans 5:3-5
